Club History

Organised schools football in the area began in the early 1960's, when both Secondary and Primary Schools operated as one. This was known as Thameside Schools FA. In the summer of 1977, a move led by Robin Devenish saw the two split into separate Associations. Thus the Gravesham Primary Schools FA was born.

The following officers were elected at the AGM of that year:
Chairman: Mr Cyril Ford
Vice-Chairman: Mr Ken Hammond
Secretary: Mr Robin Devenish
Treasurer: Mr Melvyn Harvey
District Team manager: Mr Danny Sullivan
Assistant Team manager: Mr John Lyons
3rd Year Team Manager: Mr Peter Hamilton.
Press Officer: Mr Robin Hoskin
Auditor: Mr Don Mullins
Co-opted members: Mr Graham Howard, Mr Bernie Lazzori, Mr Barber

Thanks were expressed to Mr Paul Vickers who was leaving the area. By September, Danny Sullivan was unable to take up his post of District Team manager, so Peter Hughes agreed to step in for one season.

For a number of years after the split, a large and hard working committee ensured that there were lots of opportunities for organised football in the area. These included September/Easter 7's competitions, cup competitions for both large and small schools, a skills competition, friendly fixtures and several indoor Year 4 festivals. The District team continued to represent the area on the wider county circuit. As time has moved on the committee has decreased in numbers, largely due to increased pressures on teachers and today the Association is run by a small but committed group. On the playing side the skills competition and indoor festivals no longer take place, but Girls football now takes a much more prominent role. Every year a 7-a-side boys and girls team go forward to represent Gravesham in the county finals.
